If you suspect someone hacked your mailbox and connected it to SigParser please submit a support ticket. We'll assist you with getting the data deleted and turning off access. Please email our support team from the mailbox that was connected to SigParser.

While you are waiting for a response please do the following;

  • Change Your Password: Please change the password for your email account immediately. Choose a strong, unique password that combines uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

  • Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): If you haven't already, consider enabling two-factor authentication for an additional layer of security. This will help protect your account even if your password is compromised.

  • Review Account Activity: Check the recent activity log of your email account for any unfamiliar access or suspicious activities.

  • Block third-party app access to sensitive data: Your corporate IT team can block third party apps from connecting to your mailbox by default. If an unauthorized user gains access to your mailbox, they will be unable to connect third-party applications.

  • Update Security Settings: Ensure that your security settings, such as security questions and recovery options, are up-to-date and accurate.

If the person who hacked your account used your email address to create an account you can use the Forgot Password SigParser tool to recover your password. You can then login and delete your account.

FAQ: How did this happen?

A: Someone was able to acquire the credentials to your mailbox through various means such as a phishing attack or buying the credentials off of a black market site. Hackers may connect mailboxes to data extraction tools to aid in gathering contact information. As the mailbox owner, you are responsible for protecting your mailbox with strong passwords, 2 factor authentication, and other security mechanisms to prevent unauthorized access.

FAQ: Can you send me the list of contacts that the hacker extracted from my mailbox using SigParser?

A: No. Due to privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (i.e. GDPR), we are unable to send lists of contacts, even to verified users. If you would like to see which contacts were found, you can create a SigParser account, connect your mailbox, and request our assistance in scanning your mailbox back to the date it was connected to SigParser.

FAQ: How soon will I receive a response from SigParser Support?

A: We prioritize hacked account reports, and strive to lock down the account within 1 business day. We will attempt to complete a thorough investigation and follow up with our findings within 2 business days, although often sooner.

FAQ: What other measures can I take to protect my mailbox?

A: We suggest that your organization block third-party app access to sensitive data. Steps can be found below:

   Microsoft 365

   Google
